The Holt Festival ran from Sunday 25th July until Saturday 21st July 2010 and, if anything, was even better than last year!

The NNCP granted £5,000 towards the festival. 25% of the festival performance budget has gone on entertainment for the Street Festival – the emphasis this year has been on making it more inclusive and encouraging even more local involvement.
The Urban Canvas brightened Fish Hill, Carpet Man and Lino Boy produced surreal costumes, and Maynard Flip Flap’s unique humour caused much laughter in Appleyard and Chapel Yard. Edmund Tahl’s sound effects bemused many on Tuesday and the antics – and music – of Random Acts of Jazz and their Pop-up Choir delighted unsuspecting shoppers later in the week.

The Choir were from Corpusty, Tricks and Sticks (the drummers) are from Hindolveston, and a Norfolk Dance production worked with local performers from Holt Youth Club – there were lots of other performers, in all some fantastic shows and lots of homegrown talent to be seen as well as shows from further afield. This is a rare snap of The Mythical Creatures – usually they cannot be captured on film as they’re very shy and, well, mythical.

Holt Area Partnership was involved in advance by giving festival organisers information about various grant opportunities for specific events, as well as strengthening local involvement by making the connections between festival staff and the Holt Library and the Tourist Information Centre, both of whom were keen to be more involved. Holt Area Partnership supported promotion of the festival through raffle and programme distribution as well as promoting volunteer vacancies – and HAP staff helped steward themselves on two days!
